This question has been terrorizing my thoughts for the past week. Let me introduce the problem. I've noticed that I have a sudden urge to skip when I'm done with working or school. When I do so, people give me weird looks! Why isn't it socially accepted to skip (To move by hopping on one foot and then the other, i'm not talking about skipping class) around instead of walking? If you look at skipping objectively it only has advantages.
The first advantage is a very obvious one. It just looks so much more cheerful. There are just a few things important in life and one of them is happiness. Therefore skipping would help reach important goals in life.
Secondly, it's healthier. While you're skipping, you burn more calories than while you're walking. Who doesn't want to lose weight while having fun and creating a jolly atmosphere around you! In a world where everybody is increasingly gaining weight, skipping could have awesome effects on everybody.
As you can see skipping is such a positive phenomena! The only problem that remains is the fact that it isn't socially accepted. Do you consider it normal if children are skipping? I do, and so do most people. This tells us that we unlearn to skip. Once you're becoming an adult you're taught not to skip. It is something that children do, and adults are not children. This is a sad development that we should reverse. We need to make skipping the next hype.
So from this day on, try skipping to work. Set a good example for everyone to see. Change is never quickly achieved, therefore I don't expect this change to come in effect soon but we should start today, not tomorrow.
Skippers unite!
